Congratulations Daniella and Larry!

April 1, 2012 was a very Lucky Day for Daniella and Larry as they were married in front of 190 family and friends at the Coronado Community Center yesterday.

The day was beautiful and sunny and no one was smiling more than the Bride as Daniella walked down the aisle on her Father’s arm to her awaiting handsome Groom.  Personal touches were everywhere, including a custom caricature of Larry’s romantic proposal on the Spruce Street Bridge.  Daniella surprised Larry with a gorgeous Ice Sculpture of their bridge, which was such a huge hit with the guests!

But that wasn’t the biggest surprise of the night as Daniella ask all the guests to help her serenade Larry with the words from”Happy Together” by the Turtles. (Even I joined in!)

Thank you to all the amazing vendors that made this day perfect for the happy couple.

A Dream Wedding by Sharon at the La Jolla Woman’s Club 2012 Spring Bridal Show

Yesterdays Bridal Show at the La Jolla Woman’s Club was so beautiful! Dispite the rain that began just as the show came to a close (not so fun for the vendors trying to pack up and go home), the whole event was so well organized and I had the oportunity to say Hello and reconnect with so many wonderful San Diego Vendors that I know and love working with.

I did get the chance to meet and talk with 3 very interesting Brides and Grooms, and 1 Mother and Father of the Bride about their upcoming weddings at the La Jolla Woman’s Club. I offered a free Budget or Calendar Worksheet Consultation as well as a preferred venue discount on any of my Coordination Packages.

The best part of any Bridal Show is designing a fun and eye catching table-scape with a few of my San Diego Soiree members.

At this show I of course teamed up with the very talented Irene Gonzales of A Perfect Table to showcase her gorgeous linens (you can’t have a beautiful table with out them!) and together we designed the details for all the coordinating event tables. We chose a twist on the traditional vintage look but using Carmel Shantung as the floor length linen and her new beautiful Silver Mina Vintage Lace overlay that gives the design an old world feel. The carmel napkins were wrapped using a tight pearl cluster napkin ring, and the backs of the silver chiavari chairs (provided by Best Rentals) were drapped in a custom cap made from the same silver lace and the chair pads were custom made with silver shantung fabric.

La Jolla Womans Club Bridal Show 2012

We asked Jennifer Campbell with Third Bloom to create a few stunning floral arrangements for our tables, and she went above and beyond with what we hoped for! All the little details of flowers goes a long way. I loved that Jen handed out a long stem rose to all the Ladies that attend the show!

Tammy Johnson with Candy Girl Candy Buffets created a delicious candy bar display with just the right touches and candy assortments to make the guests at the Show feel like a kid again. Jenn Ragusa with Pink Star Design custom made all the candy bar signs and the cupcake and table sign that showcased all the vendors hard work. Thank you so much ladies!

Speaking of cupcakes, Sweet Cheeks Baking Company provided us with 2 dozen delicious cupcakes for our cupcake tower. (One was actually missing at the end of the show and I don’t blame the lucky recipient who enjoyed it on the way home) . The cupcake boxes were hand crafted by A Perfect Table (you can now get your own custom cake stands made to match your table linens from A Perfect Table!), and A Dream Wedding Invitations and Accessories provided the die cut silver lace cupcake liners.

To add the final elegant touch, we asked Maria Harman of San Diego Events Lighting to provide warm amber uplights to showcase our tables in a warm and elegant glow. (see photos above)  Lighting is so important and one element of and event that should not be over looked. (Maria also provided a custom Gobo design and bright pink uplights for the ballroom to make all the rooms pop with color at the the Bridal Show)

I can’t wait to see which couples from yesterday contacts me to help them have their Dream Wedding at the La Jolla Woman’s Club!

Have your Dream Wedding at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa

I’m so excited to be showcasing one of the most beautiful San Diego bay front venues,

The Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa.

Yesterday I stopped by to visit with Amber Palmer, Senior Catering Sales Executive at the Resort.

We took a walk through the newly renovated Black Swan Room.

I was so impressed with the all the added details to the room and patio, it’s now my favorite spot in the Resort.

Amber sent over a few photos so you can see for yourselves the changes that make this an ideal location for a

small wedding reception, celebration party or rehearsal dinner.

Black Swan Room

Notice the new large screen TV that is on the wall. Perfect for a wedding slide show or anniversary memories!

The large feast table can be used for rehearsal dinners. It seats 12 with the chairs seen below, or 20 with standard banquet chairs.

The room inside can seat 40 easily, with this table removed.

Wedding Wire review from a very happy Bride!

Sharon made our wedding an absolute dream.  She is organized, brilliant, creative and maintains a calm demeanor when total disaster strikes. As a television producer for over 20 years I didn’t even think I needed a wedding planner.  BELIEVE ME…you do!  She attended to ever detail and had suggestions for making our day the magical experience every bride dreams of.  Her talents and knowledge really took the experience to the next level.  There is soooooo much happening that day and it seems Sharon was everywhere…attending to all the moving parts coming together in fast motion.  When a problem popped up…she handled it.  When it was time to  take that first step down the isle it was sharon who cued me to insure that the music and the effects all played out exactly as we had planned.

Sharon is quite simply THE BEST as what she does.  She is the consummate professional and she loves her job.  I interviewed many people before I hired Sharon and consider myself fortunate that she was able to fit me into her very busy calendar.  Honestly she was worth ten times what she charged…but you don’t realize how valuable your wedding planner is until you are in the flurry of the process.  I suggest you talk to Sharon after you’ve talked to everyone else and then make your decision.  You won’t find a more competent person. You’ll spend lots of money on your wedding and I can assure you that the most important piece of the puzzle is the person who makes it all happen when you are busy enjoying the experience.  I will remember my wedding day as the most wonderful experience of my life…and Sharon made it all happen.

DIY Table Numbers

Today I am getting ready for a photo shoot to help showcase a new venue I am working with (more on that tomorrow!)

One of the items we need is 6 table numbers framed for the guest tables.

Since it was such a small order, I went online to make them myself.

I am not proficient with Photoshop so searching for a template was the way to go.

I found a really beautiful set of table numbers and candy buffet signs at iDiy

The template was easily changeable and fun to work with, Thanks iDiy for the great free template!

Choosing the right Invitation Design

Today I am putting together the Invitation details for Leah and Sean’s wedding.

I love seeing the right invite chosen that matches both the style and venue for the event.

I can’t show you the exact invitation that Leah and Sean have chosen as they have not been mailed yet to their guests, but it made me think of a great way to blog today about what to look for in an invite design.

Here are a few helpful tips in how to chose the right invitation design for your wedding or special event:

Black Tie Event

Choose Letterpress or Blind Embossed on 100% Cotton Paper. Black Ink is standard. the words”Black Tie” is added to the left hand corner of the invite.

Evening Ballroom Reception

Traditional Style

Choose and invitation that gives your guests a hint of what to expect from your event.

The invite, if possible,  should show what attire is appropriate, which is often the most asked questions from your guests.

Contemporary Style

There are so many contemporary styles to choose from. Pocket Fold, Tri-fold, Embossed and Monogram invitations

Outdoor Ceremony

Garden Wedding

Here is where you can have fun with your invitation. Find an invitation that matches your venue. Is it a home wedding?  English Rose Garden? Local Park? There are literally hundreds of designs to choose from.

Beach or Destination Wedding

San Diego is a huge destination location! As with any destination invitation, add the extra pieces to give your guests the information that they need to have a great time as they celebrate your special event with you!

Today I met with Brittany Watland and Joseph Johnson at the beautiful Paradise Point Resort for an initial consultation. Brittany and Joe are from Phoenix Arizona, and found that Paradise Point Resort had everything they wanted for their destination wedding on September 14, 2012.

After we talked for about an hour and did a walkthrough of the ceremony and reception space, we all felt very comfortable with each other and are ready to work together to make this an amazing time for both Brittany and Joe and their family and friends!

Thanks Brittany and Joe for choosing me to be your wedding planner. I can’t wait to see your Dream Wedding come to  life!
